Little Landscapes

Nature. Stories. The natural world offers so many delicate things to observe, collect, and play with. Leaves, river pebbles, sea shells. What did you collect as a child? Does your little one collect things now, too?

Little Landscapes is a celebration of nature, storytelling, and collaborative play. It’s an intimate, short, solo theatre performance especially for young children and their grown-ups. Rooted in the textures and patterns of the natural world, the performance invites audiences into a quiet and playful space where tiny worlds unfurl.

Each audience member wears headphones. A microphone placed in the middle of the tiny performance space captures the delicate sounds — twigs snapping, stones tapping, leaves rustling.

The work is informed by Schema Learning theory, with a particular focus on enclosure, enveloping, positioning, and connection. These concepts are naturally present in your child’s play. These schemas are seamlessly embedded into the structure of the performance to engage your little ones intuitively.

In this performance award-winning theatre maker and performer Amy Grace Laura honours the smallness of things… the detail of a leaf, the sound of a seed pod cracking and invites audiences to notice, touch, and listen. Little Landscapes offers a moment of pause in a busy world.

Little Landscapes has a runtime of approximately 27 minutes. It is intended to be a small show and only has space for 5 children and 5 grown-ups at each showing. All adults must be accompanied by a child.
